Educational Initiatives

The Harris Kyriakides Foundation is committed to promote ethical excellence within the legal profession through targeted educational programs designed specifically for young lawyers. Each year, we organise a series of lectures, workshops, and interactive seminars that focus on the core principles of legal ethics and professional conduct. These sessions not only emphasise the fundamental standards of the legal profession but also provide emerging legal professionals with the essential skills and ethical frameworks needed to navigate the complex challenges of their practice. By instilling a strong ethical foundation early in their careers, our initiatives aim to inspire the next generation of lawyers to uphold the integrity, values, and professionalism that are central to the legal field.

In 2024, we were honoured to host the inaugural memorial lecture in memory of Harris Kyriakides, marking a significant milestone in our foundation’s commitment to legal education and ethics. The first Annual Memorial Lecture featured Steven Gee KC as the distinguished speaker, who delivered a compelling presentation on Legal Ethics. With decades of experience in commercial litigation and arbitration, Steven Gee KC is renowned for his expertise in fields such as Commercial Fraud, Cross-border Disputes, Chancery conflicts of law, Professional Negligence, Sanctions, and Insolvency.

During 2025, the Harris Kyriakides Foundation continued to develop its educational initiatives and strengthen its partnerships with academic institutions. In particular, it worked with the Department of Law of the University of Cyprus towards the organisation of future Annual Memorial Lectures on legal ethics and professional conduct, while continuing its scholarship collaboration with the University of Oxford. The Foundation also strengthened its public presence and outreach through its website and social media channels.

In 2026, the Foundation expanded its activities to support the cultural development and heritage of Larnaca. It became a supporter of Larnaka 2030, the organisation responsible for preparing and delivering Larnaca’s programme as the European Capital of Culture 2030, promoting artistic creativity, cultural participation, inclusivity and international collaboration. The Foundation also sponsored the historical documentary From Ancient Kition to Larnaca Today (Από το Αρχαίον Κίτιον στη Λάρνακα του Σήμερα), an initiative of AEK C.A.R.E.S., produced by The Time Machine (Μηχανή του Χρόνου), the well-established Greek historical documentary programme broadcast by Greece’s national public broadcaster, ERT. The documentary celebrates Larnaca’s remarkable history and cultural heritage, tracing the city’s development from ancient Kition to the present day and bringing its rich past to the attention of younger generations and the wider public.
